​People pleasing in your relationships, feeling overwhelmed by family obligations, having difficulty setting boundaries, perfectionism at school and work, figuring out your identity between cultures (Western vs. Eastern values - or some combination of the two), and not feeling confident in your decisions might be some of the challenges you are going through.

 

You might also experience anxiety around life changes and your ability to cope or you could feel guilty for doing what is best for you if it isn't supported by others in your life.

Getting more comfortable speaking up for your needs, feeling more certain of your choices, becoming more independent in your relationships, and managing expectations from others so that you can live your life based on your own values, needs, and priorities might be areas you want to work on through therapy.​

Davina is a second generation immigrant (Canadian-born to immigrant parents) with a South Asian / Indian heritage as well as West Indian influences. She understands the connection between culture and mental health and feels driven to support South Asian adults who need help navigating how these factors influence the different areas of their lives.

 

Davina has 15 years of Social Work experience across the social services and health care fields. She works full time in her online private practice and serves adults across Ontario and Alberta.

Davina has an Honours Bachelors degree in Psychology from McMaster University and a Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto.

​Davina can help you gain self-awareness, process your feelings, identify your goals, and take action toward improving your life. Her therapy style includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. She offers a warm, collaborative, exploratory, and supportive approach.
